Our KG, Grade 1, and Grade 2 students enjoyed a special field trip in September as they took a train ride together to visit a local farm. The journey itself was exciting for the children, as many of them were thrilled to travel together and look forward to the activities waiting for them.
At the farm, the students had the opportunity to harvest fresh vegetables themselves. They picked eggplants and edamame, learning firsthand where our food comes from and how vegetables grow. The experience of harvesting with their own hands made the vegetables even more special.
The students happily brought their harvest back home, and it was wonderful to hear their stories the next day about how their families cooked the vegetables. Some shared that they grilled the eggplant, while others talked about boiling or seasoning the edamame. Hearing these stories brought smiles to everyone.
Most importantly, the trip was also a meaningful learning experience. We reflected together that it is Allah who allows the plants to grow and provides us with sustenance. This reminded us to always be grateful and make shukr for the blessings we receive. Alhamdulillah for such a valuable and joyful experience.
